Eating Team Insights

  •   Lombardi’s  has unbelievable service and is located right off the 6 line and very close to John’s and other famous NY pizza places.

  •  John’s  is also located off the 6 line and was 1 of only 2 pizza places out of 5 we tried on our first brief NY pizza tour that made it to our list. You will see one of the other “famous” New York places on our “Never Again” list later.

  • Taconelli’s  has good pizza but awful service. First you must reserve your dough days in advance – which is neat in it’s own way. Then, when you get there, it will take no less then 1 hour or as many as 3 hours to get your pizza’s delivered to your table (unless they recognize you, then you get it right away and the rest of the people have to wait). We gave this place a couple chances and this was a common theme each time. If you can go on an off time it is worth trying. For us it goes on the “Never Again” list as this place coasts carelessly on its name.

  • Di Fara’s Located on the Q line / Avenue J. No lie- get ready to wait up to three hours in line to order and get your pizza on Saturdays. Opening hours are not in concrete either. Pizza was decent but would rank at the bottom of the list for us. This is similar to Taconelli’s in the way that it is where people had pizza as a child and becomes a thing you must do when speaking about famous east coast pizza places. Five of us went up and we would never wait in that line again when you can just go to John’s or Lamberti’s for much better pizza and MUCH better service. Yet another sacred cow of eating that just doesn’t have to care anymore.

  • Yalda's Kabob Grill This is a new place in Horsham, PA and is another example of when you look hard enough you can find unbelievable gems. This will be in my conversation when I speak of great east coast places to find pizza. It is not traditional New York plain pizza instead Moe the owner and his crew make an art out of making different combinations that continue to amaze us. If this place was in Philly or New York or Chicago it would be very famous very quickly - we truly believe that.

  • Rizzo's Famous in Glenside, PA gets an honorable mention as well. This is thin crust traditional pizza and very good.

  • Another honorable mention is Poppy’s Pizza in Oxford Valley, PA. Their Buffalo Chicken pizza and broccoli pizza was all very very good. Not bad cheesesteaks either.
